Gardens
Lost Valley has several garden areas throughout the property. The Sun Garden, located near the Outdoor Kitchen, was the original vegetable garden and is now a perennial nursery and herb
garden. Adjacent to this garden is the chicken yard, food storage and
honey processing areas, the main seedling starter greenhouse, and the Harvest House. Many of the medicinal and
culinary herbs harvested are dried and prepared in the Harvest House
adjacent to the garden.

Our gardens supply organic salad and cooking greens
to our community and conference center fresh daily year-round.
Across from the Sun Garden is the Meadow Garden, featuring the honeybee hives and a greenhouse used primarily for cooking greens, salad greens, and tomatoes. Our
best soil is across the creek on our property, so our main garden, the Creek Garden, is a
bit further from our living space. We have a large greenhouse in that
area as well as many outdoor beds and fences for climbing plants. Our main crops include cooking greens, salad greens, garlic, tomatoes, and squash as well as a wide variety of edible and medicinal herbs.
We also have several small herb gardens, including a small spiral herb garden very near to our kitchen so cooks can harvest last-minute fresh herbs. Most of the herbs are perennial but some are annual. It is an aesthetically pleasing garden that many of our guests and residents pass by daily.
