Sustainable Building and Maintenance Intern

Assist us in continuing to make the transition from a conventional building infrastructure to a more sustainable one. This involves retrofitting our cabins, lodge, classrooms, and dormitories so that they are more energy efficient, healthful, and beautiful. We also do projects from the ground up; possibilities include installing solar hot-water panels, designing a bike shop, building a composting toilet. Much of what we do depends on what resources (human and otherwise) are available at a given time. This means that projects which you have enthusiasm for could be added to our list. And with a thirty year old infrastructure, there is always plenty of maintenance work to do, such as plumbing, electrical work, rough carpentry, painting, clean-up, recycling, and more.

You have AT LEAST two years of focused experience in building and/or maintenance; you are enthusiastic about your work; you are reliable and knowledgeable with hand and power tools; you are familiar with Permaculture principles; you are open and joyful; you have deep curiosity about yourself and your relationships.

This postion is available for 3-6 months, starting in June.
