DO YOU WANT TO KNOW THE SEED DEPTH?

(Music: DO YOU WANT TO KNOW A SECRET, Lennon-McCartney) (info./disclaimers [0]) (glossary [0]) (index [0]) (gardening guide [0])

You'll never know how much soil is above you
But seeds are different, they really care

Listen
Do you want to know the seed depth?
Do you promise you will tell?
Whoa -- closer
Let me whisper in your ear
Say the words you long to hear
There's a general rule -- ooo

Listen (doo-dah-doo)
If you want to know the seed depth (doo-dah-doo)
It depends on lots of things (doo-dah-doo)
Whoa -- closer (doo-dah-doo)
You've a little latitude (doo-dah-doo)
If you want your seeds to grow
But here's the general rule -- ooo

Multiply seed diameter by three or two
Plant at that depth, that should usually do

In dry lands (doo-dah-doo)
You may need to plant them deeper (doo-dah-doo)
In swamps you'll want to plant them shallow (doo-dah-doo)
Whoa -- also (doo-dah-doo)
There are often special cases (doo-dah-doo)
Some smaller seeds need to see light
Seed packets usually have it right -- more or less so -- ooo

Comments: A surprising reference to mortality starts off this song, reminding us of the endless cycles of death, decay, regeneration, growth, and decline which inform our gardens and our lives. Otherwise this is standard Beetless fare.
