YOU NEVER LEND ME YOUR CRUMMY

(Music: YOU NEVER GIVE ME YOUR MONEY, Lennon-McCartney) (info./disclaimers [0]) (glossary [0]) (index [0]) (gardening guide [0])

You never lend me your crummy
You just sit there as my pickup falters
And in the middle of manure collection
It breaks down

You never lend me your tractor
'Cause I'm not covered by your insurance
And as you're fretting about the economy
It breaks down

Agricultural colleges
Money spent
To steal from the future
Cheat on today's rent
Biodiversity's gone
Nowhere to go

Soil and water
DNA
Air and ozone
Cultures -- hey
Progress is more important
So I'm told

But oh that magic feeling
That's in my soul
Oh that magic feeling
That's very old
That's very old

Aah-ooo
Aah-ooo
Aah-ooo

One sweet dream
Hop on my bicycle, leave behind the limousine
Soon we're far away from here
Back to the place where cycles have their way

One sweat dream
Came true
Today
Came true
Today
Came true
Today
Yes it did, nah nah nah nah nah nah nah -- nah

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven
All good earthlings know this is heaven
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven
All good bakers save their leaven
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven
Bio-motors don't need revvin'
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven
The garden's where I think I'm headin'
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven
All good earthlings ... (repeat as above)

Comments: "Crummy" is slang for a beat-up old motor vehicle, in this case apparently another "beater" pickup. Kamyar Enshayan in Dr. Twisted Visits a Farm has eloquently lampooned agricultural institutions of "hire education" and research. DNA refers to deoxyribonucleic acid. The reference to saving leaven reflects the Beetless' longtime fondness for sourdough bread.
