Head of Maintenance
Preferred candidates will have:
5 years of maintenance experience such as: Rental Maintenance, Camp host including cabin repair, window installation, water and septic system management
Experience with budget management and administration is a plus
Staff supervision and subcontractor management are desired
Experience living in intentional community, nonviolent communication are a huge plus
Small engine maintenance such as chainsaws, lanmowers, etc, as well as vehicle maintenance are a plus
Job Description:
In coordination with the Site Operations Manager, understand and perform regular maintenance and repairs on all LVEEC campus infrastructure systems
Communicate directly with the Site Management team regarding emergency repairs
Interface with County, State and other regulatory agencies to keep LVEEC in compliance
Manage subcontractors as appropriate and necessary
In coordination with Facilities Manager and Maintenance Circle, manage the Site To-Do List; prioritize/systemize tasks
Maintain tidy and organized work-spaces/job sites
Track spending, gather all receipts with the correct information attached (expense code, signature sign off, etc.), within five days of purchase and submit to the Business Administrator monthly at the Stewardship Council Meeting
Report spending and resource allocation monthly at the Stewardship Council meeting
Purchase supplies wisely. Consolidate trips to Jerry’s and locate the best-priced sources of materials for projects and repairs, while emphasizing sustainability and quality
Track vehicle mileage on company vehicles every time you use the vehicle
Maintain close communication with the Site circle and the Site staff, attending Site meetings as needed to strategize and prioritize larger projects
Hold accountability for the viability and continuity of the Maintenance Circle, securing a Functional Leader, if needed, and generally ensuring that the Maintenance Circle functions effectively
Budget-Related
Participate in annual budget creation with the Business Administrator.
Ensure that the Maintenance Team is operating within the allocated budgetCoordinate additional emergency expenditures and/or budget changes with the Business Administrator, as needed
Compensation:
This position is budgeted for $16 to $25 per hour depending on experience.
Hours are part time with possible opportunity for more work. We can guarantee 25 hours of work per week, with more hours available during bigger projects, or other departments. We offer paid time off, flexible schedule, and a full workshop of tools.
