Welcome to Kids Camp at Lost Valley Education Center and Ecovillage, this summer, July 13th - 17th!
This is a nature-based outdoor summer camp aimed at engaging children in a reciprocal relationship with the land through mindfulness practices that incorporate self care, community care, and environmental care. The camp is built on the three pillars of presence, sociocracy, and compassionate communication:
Presence - Land- and sensory-based mindfulness activities
Sociocracy - Find your voice while hearing others: self governance and group decision making
Compassionate Communication (NVC) - Communication skills for connecting compassionately to oneself, each other, and the world:
Explore feelings and needs, learn to take an open, judgement-free approach to situations;
Distinguish requests from demands and separate behavior from identity;
Empathy games that incorporate mindfulness and communication skills.
Taking place on 87 acres of forests, meadows, and gardens, it's a perfect playground for children’s exploration, engaging their curiosity and supporting their ongoing sense of wonder.
Kids will be:
Foraging for food to supplement lunches and snacks, as well as participating in food prep and cleanup.
Participating in workshops led by skilled community members such as wool crafts, botanical art, natural building, gardening, and more.
